publications – and much, much more – all conveniently sorted by category.

other online resources.

Sewing.about.com. This site has sewing instruction, lots of links to additional information, a glossary

Amazon.com has tons of sewing tools and supplies available on their website. (Note that many of Amazon’s sewing-related products are actually shipped form joann.com. However, I like ordering from Amazon.com because I find their website a little easier to navigate.)
Joann.com sells a huge variety of all kinds of sewing-related tools and supplies – from scissors and pins to threads and trims.
Fabric.com also sells sewing tools and supplies in addition to fabric, although they don't have as wide of a selection of tools as Amazon.com or Joann.com. But if you're already placing a fabric order, it can be a convenient way to pick up a few needed notions.
Clotilde.com carries lots of little specialty tools and gadgets that can help make your sewing easier. They also have a physical catalog of their products you can send for.
Fabric.com sells all kinds of fabrics (and interfacings and linings too) at excellent prices. Their website is easy to navigate and they have a generous return policy. I'd also invite you to check out their comprehensive fabric glossary.
Amazon.com . They have excellent, below-retail prices on most books and most qualify for free shipping on orders of $25.00 or more. I also like the “Search Inside” feature on Amazon's site that allows me to view an excerpt of a book before purchasing it.
Walmart.com also has below retail pricing on most of their books, 600,000 titles available, and 97 cent shipping on books.
New Complete Guide to Sewing, by Reader’s Digest editors.

Updated in 2002, this is an excellent reference volume to have on hand. It contains information on almost anything you'd ever want to know about sewing and it's filled with lots of clear, detailed illustrations.
