Sewing Information, Advice, How-to
If a project includes a printable pattern, you’ll see a “p” next to its title. If a project doesn’t include a pattern template, don’t despair! It likely consists of simple fabric shapes (like squares and rectangles) that you can easily measure and cut yourself.
Note that some projects may be designed for a specific type of sewing machine. But don’t let that discourage you! If a project you like calls for, say, complex embroidery stitches and you have just a simple zigzag machine, you can try experimenting with a satin stitch, hand-embroidering a design, or adding purchased embellishments instead.

Sewing Quick Tip:
Inspect your needle plate occasionally by removing it from your sewing machine and feeling around the edges of the needle hole. If you find any burrs or nicks, gently sand them away with an emery cloth or a piece of very fine sandpaper.
Burrs and nicks in your sewing machine’s needle plate hole (caused by the needle hitting the plate), can cause your thread to shred and break. Which can be exasperating to deal with when you’re in the middle of a sewing project.

Sewing Quick Tip:
To remove dense stitching that you can’t seem to get under with the tip of your seam ripper, try sliding a straight pin underneath the stitching. Then use the tip of a razor blade to carefully cut through the stitching across the top of the pin.

Sewing Quick Tip:
To accurately fold a knit fabric on grain, use a contrasting thread and hand baste (using long basting stitches) along one lengthwise rib line at the center of the fabric. Then just fold the fabric along the basting stitches.
