Sewing Quick Tips:
Tip #1: When sewing your next garment, consider choosing different kinds of interfacing for the different parts of
your garment. For instance, if you’re making a shirt, consider using a stiffer interfacing for the collar and a softer
interfacing for the front band and cuffs.
Tip #2: Some fabric designs can actually be printed onto the fabric crookedly. Therefore, before purchasing any
print fabric, unroll a length of it first to make sure the design has been printed on grain. If it hasn't, but you want
to use the fabric anyway, consider choosing a pattern design that's likely to hide the fabric defect.
Note: If a project below includes a printable pattern, you’ll see a “p” next to its title. If a project doesn’t include
a pattern template, it likely consists of simple fabric shapes (like squares and rectangles) that you can easily
measure and cut yourself. And note that some projects may be designed for a specific type of sewing machine.
However, if a project you like calls for, say, complex embroidery stitches and you have just a simple zigzag
machine, you can try experimenting with a satin stitch, hand-embroidering a design, or adding purchased
embellishments instead.
