Free Patterns - Felt Food & Whimsy
If a project includes a printable pattern, you’ll see a “p” next to its title. If a project doesn’t include a
pattern, don’t despair! It likely consists of simple fabric shapes (like squares and rectangles) that you
can easily measure and cut yourself.

Note that some projects may be designed for a specific type of sewing machine. But don’t let that
discourage you! If a project you like calls for, say, complex embroidery stitches and you have just a
simple zigzag machine, you can try experimenting with a satin stitch, hand-embroidering a design, or
adding purchased embellishments instead.
So, what is an "item of whimsy?"
It's an adorable little sewing project that perhaps serves no other purpose than to make you say
when you see it, “Awwwww, that’s so cute!”

Sewing Quick Tip:

When cutting out a
curved or intricate
pattern piece,
rough cut around
the piece first to
free it from the
rest of the fabric.
This will enable
you to turn the
piece to a position
that feels
comfortable to you
for cutting the
intricate area.
Sewing Quick Tip:

Purchase an extra
button or two for
your project and
sew it to the inside
of your finished
garment (like to a
seam allowance or
inside the front
band of a shirt).
This way, if you
lose a button,    
you’ll have an
exact replacement
handy.
