Sewing Quick Tips:

For beginners:

When laying your pattern pieces onto your fabric, lay them all out first,
then pin them down. Some of
your pattern pieces may need to be shifted or adjusted to make room for others and this will be easier to
do if all of your pattern pieces are still loose.

Also, arrange your pattern pieces as close together as possible. This will ensure that you'll be able to fit
them all onto your fabric and that you'll use the least amount of fabric possible.

And when laying your pattern pieces onto your fabric, circle (in pencil so that you can erase it later) the
particular layout you’re following on your guidesheet. This is to avoid confusion, since there are usually
many layout options printed on a guide sheet.

Sewing Quick Tip:

When sewing knit
fabrics, use 100%
polyester thread,
cotton-wrapped
polyester thread,
or silk thread.
These threads
have a degree of
stretch to them
and will therefore
stretch some with
your knit fabrics.
Sewing Quick Tip:

Sewing machine
needles become
dull with use.

Therefore, use a
new, sharp needle
with every new
project or change
your needle after
eight hours of
continuous sewing.
