Are you having a problem with your sewing machine?

Here’s a guide to some simple steps you can take that may fix the problem.

But keep in mind that since there are so many sewing machine models out there, this is

Note: If you need the manual for your sewing machine, try visiting your manufacturer’s website. They
often have old manuals available for download or purchase.

Sewing Machine Quick Tips:

Keep your sewing machine covered when it's not being used. This will keep out the dust (dust
is bad for sewing machines). You can get an inexpensive plastic cover from a sewing store or
you can make your own cover. It’s a simple thing you can do that could save you potential
problems in the long run.

Don’t Sew Over Pins. Sewing over pins can be convenient (it’s easier to take them out all at
once after sewing a seam than to take each one out as you come to it), but it really isn’t a
good idea. Not only could your needle hit a pin and break but sewing over pins can cause your
stitches to come out distorted.

Sewing Quick Tip:

It’s important to
use a sewing
machine needle
that’s appropriate
for your thread.
Using a needle

that’s too small
can cause your
thread to shred or
break. And using a
needle
that’s too large can
result in uneven
stitches.
Sewing Quick Tip:

If you have
difficulty threading
your sewing
machine needle,
try threading the
needle first, before
inserting it into
your machine.
