Fabrics that Require Non-fusible Interfacing
Fusible interfacings are convenient, but just remember they aren’t appropriate for the following fabrics:
Highly textured fabrics – the adhesive may not bond well to the fabric.
Napped (fuzzy) fabrics – the pressure required for the application of fusible interfacing can crush the pile.
Fabric that can’t take the heat of an iron, such as metallics, beaded or sequined fabrics, or vinyl.
Open-weave fabrics such as laces or meshes. The adhesive from the fusible interfacing can melt through to the other side of the fabric.
So when sewing these fabrics, use a non-fusible or sew-in interfacing.
