How to Press Cotton Fabric
To get a better, crisper press in cotton fabric, iron it slightly damp.
Use a spray bottle filled with water to dampen the fabric. Then roll the fabric up and let it sit for a few minutes to help distribute the moisture evenly. Unroll the fabric and iron it (with your iron temperature set to “cotton”) until it’s dry.
Most cotton fabrics are durable and can take this moisture and a higher heat setting. But when in doubt about a fabric, dampen and press a swatch of it first to see how it reacts.
And make sure to preshrink your fabric first because cotton shrinks with heat and moisture.
