Keep Your Thread from Breaking
Burrs and nicks in your sewing machine’s needle plate hole (caused by the needle hitting the plate), can cause your thread to shred and break. Which can be exasperating to deal with when you’re in the middle of a sewing project.
Therefore, inspect your needle plate occasionally by removing it from your sewing machine and feeling around the edges of the needle hole. If you find any burrs or nicks, gently sand them away with an emery cloth or a piece of very fine sandpaper.
