Here you'll find a variety of bunny plush designs - from realistic to whimsical, to sock bunnies, floppy eared designs, and easy flat designs. To sew from either fur, fabric, or felt.

And sewing a small stuffed animal can be a great way to use up fabric scraps leftover from other projects. And if you're a quilter, it can also be a great way to use any larger pre-cut fabric bundles you may have such as layer cakes and fat quarters. And one of the flat, one-dimensional designs would make a good project for a beginner, especially if sewn from a woven fabric, which will be easy to work with.

And if you're going to sew your bunny from fur, you may find the following tips helpful:

Cut your fur in a single layer, fur side down (remember to cut opposites of any pattern pieces that need it). And cut through the fabric backing only, avoiding cutting into the fur itself. And you may want to cut your pattern pieces from a lightweight cardboard instead of a paper, then trace around them to make your cutting lines, rather than pinning the pattern pieces onto your fur.

If you choose to sew your bunny plush from felt, consider using a high quality wool felt instead of the acrylic felt you'll find in most craft stores. Your finished bunny will likely look better and last longer.

And what child wouldn't love the gift of an adorable handmade bunny - especially at Easter time? Just remember that if your bunny will be a gift for a baby or toddler, to not to embellish your stuffed animal with anything that could come loose and become a choking hazard (like buttons). Better to hand embroider eyes, noses, etc. And if you want your bunny plush to be washable, just remember launder your fabrics to both preshrink them and to remove any excess dye.
