Here you'll find a variety of dinosaur designs from the mighty t-rex to the stegosaurus dinosaur to cute baby dinosaur softies. To be made from woven fabric, fur, or felt.

And sewing a small stuffed animal can be a great way to use up larger fabric scraps leftover from other projects. And it can also be a great way to use larger quilting pre-cut fabrics like fat quarters and layer cakes. And one of the simpler, flat designs would likely be easy enough for a beginner to sew.

To give your fabric dinosaur more visual interest, try sewing the body of the dinosaur from one fabric and sewing the "spikes" of the dinosaur's back (if it has them) from a coordinating or contrasting fabric.

If you're sewing your dinosaur plushie from fur, you may find the following tips helpful: Cut your fur in a single layer, rather than doubling it as you would with regular fabric (just remember to cut opposites of pattern pieces that need it). And cut into the fabric backing only and avoid cutting into the fur itself.

And if you're sewing your stuffed dinosaur from felt, consider using a high quality wool felt instead of the cheaper acrylic felt found in most craft stores. The higher quality felt will probably make your finished softie look better and last longer.

And because your pattern pieces will likely be quite small, you may want to cut them from a lightweight cardboard instead of paper. Then, lay them onto your fur and trace around them with a pen for greater accuracy instead of pinning them to your fur.

And just remember that if you'll be making your dinosaur plush for a baby or small child, to not embellish your stuffed animal with anything that could come off and become a choking hazard (like buttons). Better to hand embroider eyes, noses, etc.
