Here you'll find a variety of different lamb designs to sew from fur, felt, or woven fabric. And one of the flat lamb designs would probably be easy enough for a beginner to sew.

If you plan to sew your lamb from felt, consider using a higher quality wool or wool blend felt instead of the cheaper acrylic felt found at most craft stores. Your finished plushie will likely look better with wool felt, wear better, and likely won't pill the way acrylic felt can. Just be aware that you may not want to launder wool felt, and may be better off spot cleaning it instead.

If you plan to sew your lamb from fur, you may find the following tips helpful: For easier cutting, cut your fabric fur side down, cutting into the fabric backing only and not into the fur itself. And for more accurate cutting, consider cutting your pattern pieces from a lightweight cardboard instead of paper. Then trace around your pattern pieces to mark the cutting lines onto your fabric instead of pinning them.

And what child wouldn't love the gift of a cuddly lamb softie? But if your little lamb will be for a baby or small child, just remember not to embellish it with anything that could come off and become a choking hazard (like buttons). Better to embroider the facial features of your lamb instead (eyes, nose, etc.). And if you want your finished stuffed animal to be washable, you may want to pre-wash your fabrics beforehand in order to prevent shrinkage of your finished plushie.
