Why make a traditional stuffed teddy bear, cat, or dog, when you can make an octopus? Here you find a variety of cute octopus plush designs from simple and easy to the currently popular "reversible" octopus (with a happy face on one side and a sad or angry face on the other). To be sewn from fur, felt, or fabric.
For more visual interest, consider using one fabric for the top of your octopus plush, and a coordinating or contrasting fabric for the under side.
And if you plan to sew your octopus plushie from fur, you may find the following tips helpful: For better accuracy, cut your fur in a single layer, fur side down. And cut through the fabric backing only, not into the fur itself. And consider cutting your pattern pieces from cardboard instead of paper. Then trace around your pattern pieces to mark your cutting lines, instead of pinning your pattern pieces onto your fur.
And if you plan to sew your octopus plushie from felt, consider using a high quality wool felt instead of the cheaper acrylic felt found in most craft stores. This way, your finished plushie will likely look better and last longer.
And if your octopus plush will be for a baby or small child, just remember not to embellish your stuffed animal with anything that could come off and become a choking hazard (like buttons). Instead, consider embroidering the facial features of your octopus (eyes, nose, etc.).
And if you'll want to be able to launder your finished octopus, consider prewashing your fabric before sewing your project to prevent shrinking of your finished stuffed animal and to wash out any excess dye from your fabric.
